Sirius by my-daroga Sirius by my-daroga
Sirius, from Diana Wynne Jones' Dogsbody. Framed for murder, the Dogstar is sentenced to life on Earth... as a dog. It's quite charming, and one of my favorite Jones books (the other is Fire and Hemlock).

The model was my own Mr. Darcy, who, like Sirius, is part Lab.

Thank you!

I love DWJ, and I've read most of her books. I love Fire and Hemlock and Dogsbody best, but they're all enjoyable.

It's nice to see some art for this book. It's certainly a nice story to read.
This looks very nice. Making it lineless added a nice touch.

Lovely! And...puppy!

I curse my monitor, which is tragically old because I have to lean to the side to see the tan details in his coat. It may be responsible for the other thing I notice, which is that the dark line that differentiates the front and hind leg is a bit severe to be so thin (for me). I just find that my eye is drawn to it. But I know you're working in a nice limited color palette, which I like a lot. Especially the stark coat of the dog against the night. Lovely!

It's interesting that you say that about the details, because they're actually much more severe than on the Monty pics. I know what you mean about the line, and I'm considering taking it out. The problem is, everything in it is lined with the same weight, but you can't see it against the blue. The stars, the knots, the frame, the ears, everything. But it doesn't really work unless you look at it really big.

I understand. I didn't have a good suggestion for fixing it (which I feel bad about) but I noticed it. And as for the details, I don't know what the deal is, but I blame my monitor, not your mad skills.

Well, I just took it out. The tiny effect it gives the ears isn't worth it. Thanks!

Um, would you mind taking a look at my next-to-last LJ entry? There's an art issue there.

I like it better with the changes.

And I'm on it, for the LJ matter.

Thank you! I started it ages ago and have no idea why I stopped, since it was just a few hours to get it done from there.
